Arobanam Children Home and foster care scheme managed by DWF – Mannar

In 2011, the Arobanam Children Home was completed in Mannar. To build this home ACF raised £49,000, through various fund raising schemes. The house has the potential to accommodate 100 children.

During 2011 Mannar District Court asked Destitute Welfare Fund (DWF) to accommodate 20 boys who were originally displaced from Kilinochchi. These boys, on average 15 years of age, have behavioural problems and therefore cannot be housed with other younger children. DWF needed to arrange permanent accommodation for these boys away from other children under the DWF project. Now that these boys have moved on substantial part of the building remains empty.

ACF is currently looking into the possibilities of introducing various vocational training programs in this building.

A further 75 children living in Adampan village, under the care of our partner organisation DWF, are currently being supported through the Arobanam. Please help these children by donating or sponsoring a child.
